Amber Martinez McCrory
Amber Martinez is a counselor with New Horizon Community Care where she works with children, teenagers, and young adults. Amber’s focus area is working with individuals who have experienced trauma to help them learn to break free of their past and move forward into a brighter future. Amber received her undergraduate degree in Organizational Communications from the University of Nebraska-Kearney in 2008 and her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University in 2019.
Amber served as a convoy medic in Iraq with the Army National Guard from 2004 to 2005. She received the Arizona Mentor Behavioral Health Direct Service Employee of the Year in 2016. She is a certified ACEs trainer and has received training in trauma, substance use, and prenatal substance exposure with a focus on working with substance-addicted mothers. Amber uses therapeutic play, therapeutic art, solution-focused techniques, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to assist her clients in healing. Her internships ignited her passion for working with families and individuals of all ages with a focus on attachment and trauma-informed care. Amber believes that in healthy, supportive relationships people can achieve incredible healing and growth. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and two dogs.
