Youth and adults are paired with a mentor that will aid them in working toward their individual treatment plan goals. Mentors provide support and build relationships with clients in order to assist them in building necessary life skills.
In addition to working directly with the clients, mentors remain in communication with guardians and other family members involved in the client's treatment. Mentors educate family members on treatment practices and include them in the treatment process when appropriate. Mentors also encourage the development of healthy family relationships and effective communication.
Clients are given the opportunity to engage in weekly therapeutic group activites that foster the development of socialization skills and promote physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. These activities center on developing the client's sense of control and responsibility for their own personal wellness and for maintaining a high quality of life.
NHCC offers individual and family counseling facilitated by Master's level clinicians. Clients are empowered to reach their personal goals and address barriers to their overall healthy functioning and ability to grow as individuals and families. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is utilized in an attempt to change or modify unhealthy thought patterns, to promote positive behaviors and emotions.
